Treatment standard
Handy tool for self-doers

When treating a chicken, often two people are needed, one to hold the chicken and another to carry out the treatment.
It is a home and hobby made product!

With this treatment standard, it is easy to do this on your own without the help of others! It is multifunctional and you can perform various actions on it, such as cutting nails, liming feet, treating a bumblefoot, removing spores, cleaning the ears, stitching a wound (if necessary), force feeding, and much more !

Not every animal is the same.
This solid treatment standard is therefore made lengthwise. It is adjustable in width and the straps keep the chicken in place, making it suitable not only for bantams and fowl, but also suitable for other winged friends, such as ducks or geese. etc.

The animals lie comfortably and quietly so that it is faster for both the chicken and the operator. The animals do not experience stress. The handy thing is that this treatment stand can be folded narrow and flat and then takes up little space!

For chicken, duck and breeders enthusiasts, this treatment standard is a great help in checking or treating animals at a time that suits you. It's great that you no longer need help from others to hold an animal and carry out a small treatment yourself!

No more stress for the animals to perform a small treatment at home or after a visit to the vet, check yourself if everything goes well after the treatments of the animal. Or a small (after) treatment can now be done yourself at home without the help of a second person.

Information

  • The treatment standard is not a commercial product and is  not offered through retailers or elsewhere.
  • I make them based on request and not in advance, so there is no stock.
  • All the wood materials used are FSC certified.
  • The straps are of good quality genuine leather and therefore last a long time.
  • The straps are available in different colors of leather, if present.
  • So they are 100% "Home & Hand made".
  • They are foldable, so they don't get in the way.
  • The standard has a number of "clever things" that make it easier to use.
  • Due to the variable width, it can also be used for bantams or large chicks, even very large Sussex, Jersey Giant, Brahmas, but also Silkies.
  • I have also seen examples where the standard came in handy in rabbits.

Materials used

Bumblefoot (after) treatment for chickens.

1. The treatment standard

Bumblefoot

Tape instruction's

1 tube of pull ointment.

Blue Tape:

cut 2 x strips of 1.5 cm along the length, then you are left with a strip of about 2 cm. These narrow straps are used with the leg taping . (The 2cm wide band will come later, also make small pieces so that you can stick it to the leg)

Elastomull haft bandage: 10cm x 4 meters (can be made in advance)

These are cut in half along the length. You should have 2 strips of 5 cm. Use 1 piece of one strip, about 40 cm (depending on the size of the leg). Fold this in half and your bandage is ready for use.

Soft Pad 5 x 5 cm: cut a square of this, 2 x 2 cm is often sufficient.(depending on the size of the leg)

You can always adjust it.

Sports tape;

Here you take a bit off at the end of the leg taping, this gives strength and it keeps the blue tape together at the bottom.

  • Clean the leg with water and cotton pads (do not use soap, shampoo, disinfectants, soda or other things)

  • Small square of the soft pad (2 x 2 cm)

  • Large dot of drawing ointment on the soft pad and stick it against the place where the bumblefoot is.

  • Make the bandage (elastomull over the back toe ... and continue (watch the video)
(Make sure that the bandage (elastomull haft AND the Blue tape must be loosely wrapped around the leg, DO NOT pull!) Both bandages and tape 1 x around the leg is sufficient

  • Closing the tape, start at a toe and continue the video (this also goes Loosely around the toes !!!)

  • Finally the small piece of sports tape under the foot (watch the video)

When the Bumblefoot is very swollen, repeat the next day and see if it goes well , then with the taping again, as described above. The chicken can simply go outside  *** in wet weather to change every day *** (this to prevent infections)

It is best to treat the chicken in the evening, then they will benefit more from the treatment, because they go to sleep, the drawing ointment will do its job better.

If the swelling starts to subside, the bandage can remain on it for 2 days.

Our sweet chicken Antje had bumblefoot on both legs.
On the treatment standard Antje thought it was completely fine and sometimes dozed off for a while.

I had seen the treatment standard in a movie and went online to see where they had this in Belgium.
NOT to find anything that looks like it let alone a chicken care tool.
Great invention, firmly conceived !!

Each time I was obliged to put the chickens on my lap and take care of them as soon as possible. Now that I have the standard at home, that is no longer a problem at all. Less stress for the chickens but also for me. I could no longer miss the treatment standard.

Not only for the leg treatment we use the treatment standard, but also for the treatment of favus, where it is also useful to have your hands free. Top tool !!

Amazingly and handy.

I had seen a video of the treatment table on Facebook. I had to have it. For some time I struggled with the treatment of the limestone legs in my chickens. A lot of hassle and hassle and I always depended on a few extra hands. That was a thing of the past after purchasing the treatment table. Ideal. I can now treat the legs myself with ease. No more hassle and fuss and last but not least a calm chicken.

What more can you wish for as a chicken

As a USA Silkie enthusiast it is important that our ladies keep a beautiful crest. If they have a little too full crest, they get poor visibility. Cutting is the only option! It used to be a job that you had to do with two people. The treatment standard has now made it much easier. I can now trim the hair without the help of others, so that they get a perfect haircut. Finally, they get a pedicure.
